Can't get past the menu

I haven't played terraria in a while so i didn't have the game downloaded. I saw there was an update and decided to start playing again. I downloaded the game and made a new character, and joined a world that already existed. I equipped some items and logged out. I launched the game again a few minutes later, and now i'm suffering from a horrible glitch or something.

When i click on any of the menu options (single player, multiplayer, options, achievements, it will take me to that menu. But...
